I've been waiting 34 years for this

Some of you know my desire to serve on a jury. Well.......Peter knew I would be excited when he brought me my mail because you can tell it's a summons before you even open it. That excitement quickly vanished when I saw the date - April 11. I plan to be on a sailboat, somewhere in the Caribbean, from April 5 -13.

The summons says I will be in contempt of court if I fail to appear unless I fit one of the following:
1) Over 65 years of age
2) have a mental or physical condition (medical statement required)
3) have legal custody of child under the age of 7 & can't find childcare
4) a student or school employee if this day is a school day
5) been convicted of a charge which could have resulted in a sentence of a year or more

I'm glad I don't fit any of these conditions and as much as I want to be on a jury, I really don't want to miss this vacation........it's been planned for a long time, it's already paid for and we didn't buy trip insurance.

So, I'm wondering what will happen if I am in contempt of court............
